About the role
The Managing Director / Head of Hammar Australia leads and develops Hammar’s Australian business with full responsibility for strategy, performance, and results. A core priority of the role is to build and scale a strong service and spare parts business, creating long-term customer relationships, recurring revenue, and high equipment uptime across the Australian market. This role requires a leader who combines strategic direction with hands-on execution and who leads with openness, collaboration, and high levels of trust. Close alignment with Hammar’s Swedish roots, culture, and ways of working is central to success in the role.
Key responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
• Lead Hammar Australia with full accountability for business performance and results
• Build a culture characterized by openness, collaboration, and trust, empowering teams to take ownership and responsibility
• Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing local team aligned with Hammar’s values and long-term ambitions
• Promote transparent communication and strong cooperation with the Hammar Group
Service & Spare Parts Development (Key Focus)
• Establish, grow, and professionalize Hammar’s service and spare parts business in Australia
• Develop service offerings, spare parts availability, and support structures that drive customer satisfaction and recurring revenue
• Strengthen service capability, processes, and response times to support the installed base throughout its lifecycle
• Build long-term customer relationships through reliable service delivery and uptime-focused solutions
Commercial & Market Development
• Drive profitable growth across equipment sales, service, and spare parts
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and distributors
• Identify new business opportunities, particularly within service contracts and aftermarket offerings
• Act as Hammar’s primary representative in the Australian market
Operational & Financial Management
• Full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
• Ensure efficient, high-quality operations across sales, service, and support
• Oversee local supply chain, service, and operational activities in line with group expectations
Governance, Collaboration & Reporting
• Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and Hammar Group policies
• Act as the main interface between Hammar Australia and group management in Sweden
• Report performance, risks, and opportunities clearly and transparently
• Contribute to group strategy and long-term development initiatives Qualifications & experience
• Proven senior leadership experience, such as Managing Director, Country Manager, General Manager, or Business Unit Head
• Educational background in Engineering: MSc or BSc in relevant engineering field.
• Strong commercial background within technical, industrial, or capital equipment businesses
• Demonstrated experience building and scaling service and aftermarket businesses
• Solid financial acumen with experience owning full P&L responsibility
• Experience working with Swedish or other European companies is highly valued
• Ability to speak Swedish is a strong advantage, but not a requirement
