Hammar wins 2026 DEFENDER award at MSPO
Hammar Maskin AB received the DEFENDER Award at MSPO 2026 for the Hammar XXL36, a load-handling and transport solution developed to support modern defence logistics.
At MSPO 2026, Hammar presented the latest XXL36 configuration installed on an 8×8 Scania truck. The system has been developed to improve mobility, operational flexibility and efficiency while supporting a wide range of cargo and logistics tasks. The exhibited configuration can also lift and transport selected vehicles weighing up to 28 tonnes.
The Hammar XXL36 combines transport, heavy load handling and stacking of containers up to two high and two rows deep in a single vehicle. Designed to increase flexibility throughout the logistics chain, the system enables loads to be handled horizontally and transferred directly between the ground and different transport platforms, for example railway wagons, trailers and trucks. The XXL36 offers lifting capacity of 36 tonnes next to the vehicle.
The XXL36 can also support field service and repair operations, as well as the handling and transport of selected military vehicles. With the service concept, the Sideloader can function as a mobile overhead crane with 10 t capacity for lifting exchange modules, like engines and heavy components/parts during maintenance work. If a vehicle cannot be repaired in the field the same platform can support handling and transport.
“The objective with the XXL36 is to give defence organisations greater flexibility in how loads are handled. Rather than being limited to one type of load or handling method, vehicles with the Hammar XXL36 can in a flexible way support transport, horizontal lifting, transfer, stacking and service operations. Receiving the DEFENDER Award is an important recognition of that concept.”
Peter Cederholm, CEO, Hammar Maskin AB
The DEFENDER Award is presented during the International Defence Industry Exhibition, MSPO, in Kielce, Poland. The competition recognises products serving defence and security purposes, with entries assessed by a jury formed from the MSPO Programme Board and supported by experts from the Polish Armed Forces, academia and the defence industry. Hammar Maskin AB was among the 2026 recipients, receiving the award for the Hammar XXL36.
